I've spent the last six months processing and debating if I should post pictures from the visit I had to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps last winter. With only one day off in Poland, I knew it would be a heavy, heavy day but I knew deep down that it was something that I had to do. The feelings I experienced while there were indescribable. How could humans be so incredibly brutal yet how could humanity suffer such enormous atrocities and rebound to be such a beautiful and proud nation? These questions stayed with me long after I left Poland. Here are some of the shots I got from my trip there. My mind was filled with notions of light and dark, the inside looking out, beauty in the grotesque, confinement in vastness and various other paradoxes. If you ever have the opportunity to visit there to see and feel this for yourself, I promise it will change the way you view life.
